Unlocking South Australia’s Full Potential

TUESDAY JULY 23, 2019

The 12th Annual SA Major Projects Conference will soon explore the most anticipated major infrastructure projects planned and under development within the state, with the aid of some expert public and private sector names.

Defence SA Chief Executive Richard Price will open the conference with an overview on the major defence projects currently in the pipeline.

With the Future Submarine Program set to be the largest defence capital investment program in Australia’s history, and the $35 billion Hunter Class frigate program expected to create more than 4000 jobs upon its commencement in 2020, Price will provide attendees with plenty of insight into the complexities of these transformative projects.

Joining Price at the conference will be Adelaide Airport Managing Director Mark Young, presenting on the $165 million Airport Terminal Expansion.

Beyond creating more dining and retail options for visitors to Australia’s fifth busiest airport, growing the main terminal at Adelaide Airport will allow international arrivals to be significantly upgraded, while improving the arrival and departure experience for international and local passengers alike.

Growth and change will also underpin the redevelopment of the formal Royal Adelaide Hospital site. Mark Devine, Renewal SA Chief Executive will present on the site’s restoration into innovation and research neighbourhood Lot Fourteen.

The neighbourhood aims to unify members of Australia’s entrepreneurial eco-system including investors, researchers, start-ups and mentors while nurturing talent for future generations in fast-growing industries such as AI, defence and big data.

To continue the development of similarly transformative works, many experts hold shared and opposing thoughts on the sectors and policies driving economic growth within SA.

A 6-person panel at the conference will explore how best to unlock the full potential of the state’s economy in the pursuit of high-quality infrastructure. Deloitte Access Economics Director Aaron Hill will join Renew Adelaide CEO Tim Boundy, SA Freight Council EO Evan Knapp, SA Property Council of Australia Executive Director Daniel Gannon, UDIA SA CEO Pat Gerace and Managing Director at Kangaroo Island Plantation Timbers John Sergeant for the in-depth discussion.

Hours of networking with senior-level professionals across the infrastructure sector will round out the event, allowing attendees access to the decision-makers responsible for some of SA’s largest and most anticipated infrastructure projects.

The 12th Annual SA Major Projects Conference is held on the 30th and 31st of July at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
