Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The 8th Annual Middle East Lighting Design Summit, held with the support of Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council as the Official Supporting Partner and Etihad ESCO as the Official Government Partner concluded successfully yesterday.
Organized by Expotrade Middle East, the two-day summit witnessed over 300 senior lighting designers, architects, urban planners, engineers, consultants attended the two-day event to engage, network and exchange information on the latest trends and developments within the lighting industry in the region.
Across two days, over 40 international and regional industry practitioners and experts participated as speakers and panelists, including Luke Lowings, Owner, Carpenter | Lowings Architecture & Design, Regina Santos, Associate, Head - Lighting Design, Godwin Austen Johnson, Andrés Sánchez Alonso, Senior Associate, Lichtvision Design GmbH, Alex Beim, Creative Director, Tangible Interaction Design and Elizabeth Valkovics, Design Director, dwp, to name a few.
The program agenda featured over 15 sessions on topics pertaining to human centric lighting, the importance of natural light as a design concept, impact of digital developments in lighting, incorporating sustainable lighting into design, and importance of efficient public lighting, amongst others.
Elizabeth Valkovics, commented, “Technology is advancing so quickly, and with each new development, we are able to enhance spaces in ways we didn't think possible. Human centric design focuses on remarkable things like simulating real sunlight or changing colour temperature in a space for greater human enjoyment, better wellness or increased productivity. It is this human centric lighting, which creates the most dynamic and successful designs.”
More than 20 leading lighting manufacturers showcased their lighting products and solutions. The conference concluded with the Delegate Choice Awards, wherein the delegates voted for the most innovative product and the best design award. Lumenova won the award for the most innovative product, and SACO won the best design award.
