South Australia Major Projects Conference 2023: Major Funding Boost Powers Infrastructure and Sustainable Future

THURSDAY OCTOBER 13, 2022

After a three-year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Expotrade Australia is delighted to announce that the 13th Annual South Australia Major Projects Conference will return to the Adelaide Convention Centre in March 2023. As the biggest conference of its kind in the State attracting more than 150 delegates, expect to meet the who's who of the infrastructure industry at this unique event.

The conference theme is Building South Australia’s Future, with the recent 2022-23 State budget allocating its largest amount of funds towards infrastructure – $18.6 billion over four years – that will power major projects focussed on roads, health, and renewable energy.

Over two days keynote presentations will focus on the biggest projects underway in the State, including The T2D Project: the largest infrastructure project in South Australia’s history. The $9.9 billion Torrens to Darlington is the last part of the North-South Corridor supporting almost 5,000 jobs.

ElecraNet Executive Rainer Korte will provide a construction update on the $2.4 billion SA-NSW Interconnector, set to transform South Australia into a global force in renewable energy exports. Information about the New Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Australia’s first all-electric hospital, will be presented by Brendan Hewitt, Project Director, who will outline how the $2 billion Adelaide hospital will provide state of the art technology and world class care to South Australian families. CEO of SA Defence, Richard Price, will provide an overview of major projects in motion.

Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure Executive Sally Smith will discuss the Revised 30—Year Plan for Greater Adelaide, and how it will transform the city. Other updates on major projects include the Adelaide Airport Terminal Expansion, that has already improved the experience of travellers into the State, and Adelaide’s all-electric Festival Tower, developed by Walker Corporation.

With the revitalisation of iconic Adelaide Central Market Arcade underway, Alex Hall, Principal of internationally renowned architectural firm Woods Bagot, will provide an update on the redevelopment. SA State Leader of Neoen, whose portfolio includes the Goyder South Wind Farm and the Hornsdale Power Reserve, will discuss the opportunities and challenges of major renewable projects. Damian Hewitt, Head of Smart Cities at SAGE Group, will provide insights into the technology supporting Adelaide in maintaining its globally recognised intelligent city status.

Constantly seeking to promote informative discussion, the conference will host two panels. On Day One, sustainability is the focus, with experts highlighting the importance of infrastructure planning embracing sustainable processes. On Day Two, an expert panel from the space industry will share their insights on space infrastructure. With South Australia home to the Australian Space Agency and Australian Space Discovery Centre, the State is recognised as the country’s leader in space technology.

The conference will offer also offer unique networking opportunities to support the development of crucial business relationships. With a networking event on Day One, as well as designated networking sessions on both days, delegates and presenters will meet key industry figures responsible for the biggest projects in the State.

The 13th Annual South Australia Major Projects Conference will be held on Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd of March 2023 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
