Lighting experts from the City of London, Melbourne, Canning and Helsinki will headline the Middle East Smart Lighting and Energy summit 2020

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The 9th edition of the Middle East Smart Lighting and Energy Summit will be held on 20-21 April 2020 at Sofitel Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa. Organized by Expotrade Global, the conference will emphasize on intelligent lighting solutions integral to building smart cities, smart street lighting initiatives, and latest facade lighting solutions.

Across two days, over 40 international and regional lighting experts will discuss the use of smart lighting systems and the latest lighting strategies that play a pivotal role in building smart cities. Sheriff Christopher Hayward, Deputy Chairman - Corporation Planning and Transportation Committee, City of London; Ian Dryden, Principal – Industrial Design, City of Melbourne; Jemma Greene, Chief Innovation Officer, City of Canning - Perth, Australia and Ilpo Laitinen, Director of Administration (City Construction & Infrastructure), City of Helsinki are confirmed to speak at the conference.

Over the course of two days, the program agenda will feature topics on solar energy boosting sustainability in UAE, Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030, public realm lighting solutions and strategies, energy efficient lighting retrofits, and smart city lighting strategies along with five panel discussions on topics focusing on government’s role in efficiently lighting the public realm, the role of MEPs in building cities of the future, how placemaking & lighting design is changing urban life for the better, integrating retrofits & technology lighting the public realm, and the importance of operation & maintenance (O&M) for mega infrastructure projects.

David Andrew Dunn, Lighting Expert, Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities, Majid Ideisan Ibraheem Abuabdoun, Lead - Energy Engineer, Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Manal Ahmed Al Raeesi, Director of Engineering, Al Batayeh Region - Sharjah Municipality, Eng. Roaa Ghassan Alkhatib, Assistant Technical Director, SEWA and Eng. Hanan Saleh AlHemairy, Manager of Lighting & Traffic Systems Maintenance, Road Transport Authority – Dubai will be participating in the panel discussion on government’s role in efficiently lighting the public realm.

The conference will witness over 300 senior lighting experts, urban planners, sustainability experts, and engineering consultants, participate across both days.
