3rd Annual Arab Future Cities Summit Dubai 2016 Gets Underway Today

Held under the patronage of His Highness Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive Emirates Airline & Group, President Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman Dubai Airports, and with the support of Dubai Economic Council as a Strategic Partner, the 3rd Annual Arab Future Cities Summit Dubai 2016 began today at Palazzo Versace Dubai.
H.E. Hani Rashid Al Hamli, Secretary General, Dubai Economic Council (DEC), H.E. Eng. Hassan Al Mansouri, Assistant Undersecretary, Works, Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, Member of the Board of Directors, RTA and Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, General Director of Smart Services Departmenr, Dubai Police inaugurated the summit in the presence of other VIP dignitaries.
The summit began with a welcome address from H.E. Hani Rashid Al Hamli, Secretary General, Dubai Economic Council (DEC), followed by a presentation by Mark De Haes, President & CEO, Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East on urban future mobility from a global perspective and how Daimler is shaping the future of mobility.
Focusing on the progress and development of smart city initiatives in Dubai and highlighting solutions to overcome the challenges present, the summit saw leading regional and global experts including Andrey Belozerov, Deputy CIO, Moscow City; Noel Kirkaldy, Business Development - Public Sector, Advanced Mobile Network Solutions, Nokia; Muammar Al Katheeri, Executive VP - Engineering Management and Smart City, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority present on topics such as big data for public services, creating smart, safe and sustainable cities and a case study presentation on Dubai Silicon Oasis City respectively.

The summit saw over 400 senior government officials, tech experts, innovators, urban planners and consultants come together to be part of the most prominent smart cities summit in the Middle East region.
Venturino Intrieri, Service Product Line Manager, Allied Telesis moderated a panel discussion on how important are automated networks for automated future cities that featured expert panelists Baz Gharibi, Traffic and Transportation Manager, Louis Berger; Martin Baerchmidt, Founding Partner and Managing Director, EDGE; Martin Tillman, Director - Transport Planning, AECOM.
The Future Cities Lounge featured the latest in innovative smart cities solutions from global and regional providers such as Mercedes-Benz, Nokia, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, ENGIE, u-blox, Avertra, Majid Al Futtaim, Allied Telesis, IPS group among many others.
